Group’s reiki session soothing
BY EILEEN SOLER
Special to The Herald For participants of a recent Reiki in the Park session at Secret Woods Nature Center in Dania Beach, the art of universal life-force healing gets them in touch with themselves mind, body and soul. “I felt my inner pressures lift, my back pain was lessened, and I feel much more in tune and relaxed,” said Monica Lew of Coral Springs. Lew was one of six people who turned out for the one-hour session conducted by Reiki Master Carol Ramsay of Pompano Beach, who led the group into deep meditation before placing her hands over each to channel their chi, a Chinese world for the energy that underlies everything. Little is known about the origins of Reiki, but it is believed that Reiki was introduced in Tibet about 100 years ago and popularized by a Christian minister in Japan. Ramsay, an ordained reverend with the international non-denominational Universal Brotherhood, conducts Reiki in the Park sessions at 2 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of each month. The cost is $5 per session. “You will find the vehicle that will allow you to see, feel and hear your inner self,” Ramsay said. Secret Woods Nature Center is at 2701 W. State Road 84 in Dania Beach.
